I agree with Simon Wardley. I’ve been in the industry for 25 years and have seen everything from Client-Server, to DCE, to CORBA to REST, to Containers and each step was an attempt at improving distributed computing. I don’t think serverless is the end of this evolution, but simply the culmination of all that came before so it will thrive and containers will take a back seat, but nothing completely goes away. I still see client-server applications and in some places where they make total sense.
