Phi is for Philosopher
The title or honorific of Philosopher, abbreviated Phi, is bestowed upon citizens of Cognitopia who are considered luminaries. It’s similar to the honorific Sr. for knights or St. for Saints. Unlike a PhD, Phi it is not tied to academia or degree programs, it is a more general title used with ancient philosophers as well as living citizens of Hypatian society.
The title can be awarded posthumously such as Phi Darwin, Phi Aristotle, or Phi Einstein. It can also be given to living philosophers such Yuval Noah Harari (Phi Harari), Ray Kurzweil (Phi Kurzweil), and E.O. Wilson (Phi Wilson). The honorific can be extended with the name of the exclave in which the philosopher lives, such as Phi Johnson of Exv Alexandria or Phi Gupta of Exv Darwin. It can also be paired with Abroad for those Philosophers who are citizens but live outside of a Cognitopia exclave or with Persona Grata for non-citizens who are, nonetheless, honored guests and beneficiary of Cognitopia Examples include Phi Harari Abroad or Phi Kurzweil Persona Grata.
Philosophers are rare and are honored beneficiaries of Cognitopia. If they are citizens their duty is to study and dispense wisdom and to advise the citizens of Cognitopia on its laws and institutions. In academic or corporate terms, a Philosopher is sort of Senior Fellow of Cognitopia. If they are citizens, they may or may not have any academic or governing responsibilities but are encouraged to research, write, and lecture on their topics of experities. In many cases, Citizen Philosophers are also significant Electoral Delegates in one or more governing areas. They also tend to author referendums although none of these responsibilities are mandatory.
